Jamison Land, formerly of GWAR, announced on Monday that he is no longer a part of the heavy metal group. Theprp.com reports that Land, via a Facebook post, shared his departure as he wants to devote more time to his family in Kentucky and wants to shift his focus onto his driving career. GWAR has yet to release any statements concerning the matter.

The former GWAR bassist joined the band in 2011, and took on the character of Beefcake the Mighty as Casey Orr’s replacement. His membership marked the fourth time the character has changed hands. Over the years, the Beefcake the Mighty character was the band’s second most frequent vocalist after Oderus played by Dave Brockie, who passed away in 2014. Since Land took on the character, he has also contributed to backing vocals and additional vocals for tracks like “El Presidente” and “Fuck This Place.” For now, Land will be working as a tour bus and school bus driver, according to what is listed on his Facebook.

GWAR are a shock-metal group that was formed in Richmond, Virginia, in 1984. The band is recognized for their unique barbarian-warrior type stage costumes that are influenced by science-fiction mythology. They are also known for their on-stage theatrics, which includes some highly graphic scenes during their performances. The band is undoubtedly a cult favorite in the science-fiction community, having also appeared in an episode of Rick and Morty. Their shock-metal style was best reflected when their music video for “I’ll Be Your Monster” was deemed too graphic for YouTube advertisers.
